Here's August's family picture. Look at how big Noah's grown! This month was pretty tough for all of us. For me, the main highlights were Noah going to daycare, Noah getting sick from daycare, and Yilin and me taking turns getting sick.
We had a good feeling that Noah was going to get sick from daycare. We were warned and we gave ourselves a two week buffer before we really needed Noah to be in daycare. If Noah was able to handle all of the new germs, then Yilin would get two weeks of rest. Unfortunately, that's not really how it turned out and Noah spent more time at home with Yilin than he did at daycare. To make things worse, when Noah was at daycare he picked up habits like being rocked to sleep and not sleeping at predictable times. This meant that we were lucky if Noah napped a total of 2 hours for the entire day. Sigh, sleep was a big problem for all of us when Noah was sick.
At some point, Yilin also fell sick. I think I didn't really handle it all that well. It's pretty hard to transition from the extra help at night to the primary care giver while also caring for a sick wife. I'm pretty sure I dropped the ball on caring for Yilin while she wasn't feel well. This is something that I'll have to work on.
Yilin had a chance for redemption this past week when it was my turn fall ill. Instead of making me suck it up and continue to plow through, she pretty much let me sleep for about 18 hours in a single day. All while taking care of Noah and making sure we had nourishing food so that both of us could recover from our sickness. I don't think I've even really begun to explain all of the things that Yilin has to do regardless of whether she feels perfectly healthy or terrible sick. It's pretty amazing what mom's can do.
